Cosme, New York 2016
Enrique Olvera is most likely the most famous chef to come from Mexico. We've been longing to visit Pujol in Mexico City, but when he opened Cosme in New York we couldn't wait to have a taste of his Mexican brilliance.
Some might be a bit off-putting by "expensive Mexican food", but we're very happy Enrique is able to showcase what an amazing food-culture Mexico brings when put in the right hands! The interior to Cosme is trendy and does a perfect job of elevating the experience. Though perhaps the feeling is little to much of business and too little "local friendly hangout" for our taste.
The menu is á la carte and we're told to choose a few different options (and by all means share between us). We also start off with an amazing Mezcal cocktail. Even the bartender is truly on point. Having just come from a few weeks vacation in Mexico, simply by this drink we're transported back.
No Mexican meal is complete without starting with chips and Guacamole, so we can't resist. Enrique is famous for being very picky about exactly how the guacamole is prepared, and it shows-- delicious.
All dishes we try are simply perfected dishes that packs a punch of flavour. We create our own tacos from perfect tortillas, we try amazing mole and we have a great time here.
The meal is ended with the "famous" dish of husk meringue and corn mousse. Smooth and creamy end to a great meal.
This is elevated Mexican food. No bells and whistles, simply very tasty, well crafted dishes.
